Read this first... Then explain to me why we place any value at all on the opinions of Europeans.
Now, I'll admit that I know quite a few Europeans. And none of them fit the mold that their Governments build for them. Nearly all of the Germans I know despise their government and the positions it takes on the world stage, wishing that their government would stand up to France (like in the old days...). The Britons I know support their government but despise their media, saying that their media portrays the country as closer to France and Europe and further from the USA than the people really are. And people of other nationalities, in general, seem far less anti-American than the media portrays them, and seem to agree that what we're told by our media, and to some extent by their own media, does not reflect the truth.
Are the people I know exceptions? Or is Europe, like the media, Hollywood, and the Democratic party, controlled by hyperliberal elements that are out of touch with the rest of the world, and perhaps reality as well?
I think that the time has long been gone that the media could be trusted to tell the truth. If they ever could be trusted with the truth at all. And I think the days of Europe dictating right and wrong to the rest of the world are also a thing of the past. Nikita Kruschev was right in one sense - while the Soviet Union did not succeed in burying the West economically, perhaps the Communist focus on a purely secular society did succeed in burying the West morally.
